Easy Sprite Cake

Easy sprite cake

A friend of mine told me about a super easy way to make a boxed cake. She said to just add diet sprite or something similar instead of the eggs, milk and oil as stated on the box. I looked at her like she was crazy…..diet sprite? Really?!

Well I love cake and I saw this as a challenge. I sent the hubby out to the store to get a 2 Liter of Sprite Zero and we already a box of white cake mix on hand. This cake was going to cost me $1 + tax.  Cheap experiment if I had a major fail. 😉

Well as you can see above, it wasn’t a fail. It was FANTASTIC. The cake came out very moist. Lilly, who is five LOVED it. I am going to let her bake the next Sprite cake with my help. The kids will love making this recipe. I’m always on the lookout for kid friendly recipes and this is one to add to your list.

Feel free to eat the batter – NO EGGS! 😉

  1. can you do this with other flavors of cake? Like maybe a lemon cake or strawberry? I would think a chocolate cake with dr. pepper would be good also!

    • Yes! You can use different flavors. We tried this in strawberry cake and it came out great. Chocolate would be great with dr pepper or pepsi I think. 🙂
