Why Shopping at Wholesale Stores Costs More Money

why shopping at wholesale stores costs more money

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to drop $100 or more at a wholesale store like Sam’s Club or Costco? Why is that? Well, because it’s the ultimate one stop shop for all the things we “need.” When was the last time you walked into to Kroger and picked up a pair of shoes or name brand jeans for yourself? Never, right?? You can do that in a wholesale store. That’s what makes these stores so fun and we why we end up spending more money.

I’m here to give you a few reasons why shopping at Wholesale stores costs you more money. Don’t get me wrong. These stores are AWESOME. I love going inside and snagging a sample at every corner. I also get the feeling of guilt to buy that product. It’s usually something I will never use or even need but it will end up in my cart anyway.

**When we go shopping, our main focus is usually on groceries or food of some sort. The next time you hit Sam’s or Costco, you will notice that most perishables and freezer items are located at the back of the store.  You can bet that on your way to the back, you have stopped to browse through the clothing area or even the electronic section. By adding a few books here or a couple of shirts there, you’ve already dipped into your food budget.

**How about those shopping carts? I’m talking about the large carts with a flat bottom. They will hold a ton of boxes and bulk items. Humans are very visual. If you have room, then why not buy a few more cases of soda or snacks.

**Membership fees – You really need to sit down and consider if paying the membership fee to shop at wholesale stores is worth it for you. For example: We are a family of three. There is no reason I’d need to purchase a case of cheese or a 10 pound bag of fresh fruit or veggies. We would never consume it all before it went bad. Shopping at a wholesale store is more of a novelty. You get access for bulk items and other neat things you may not necessarily have access to in your local grocery stores. Just think about if you will be saving enough to re-coup the cost of your membership fees

**Quantity doesn’t always mean savings. It’s very convenient to stock up on everyday essentials.  Shoppers must know their pricing. It’s so easy to throw a case of air freshener or snacks into the basket or cart without thinking about the price. At the time, all that matters to shoppers is the convenience of not having to buy these items again for a few months. Just because you can buy items by the case doesn’t mean you are saving money.

**Walking into a wholesale store without a plan/list is killer. Going back to being visual, we get so excited to see different items in each aisle that we tend to lose focus on what we really need. Shoppers should always have a plan or you will easily drop over $100 on your trip and the cart will be full.

This is a list of things to consider before shopping at a wholesale store. It’s so easy to spend more than what is necessary.

Gorton’s Artisan Fillets Review + Real Solutions Sweepstakes

Gortons_Artisan_LemonandCrackedPeppercorn

I have another review for you. Gorton’s sent me some coupons to try something off of their new Artisan line for free. We chose the new Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn fish fillets.

I am stoked about this review because we love Gortons products. Getting to try a product of theirs was fantastic. Jason and I love adding lemon pepper to our fish, so this flavor was a no brainer. We used the Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn fillets in our fish tacos. and they came out great. The panko breadcrumbs added the perfect crunch to every bite. The flavor of the fillet was yummy and the tacos tasted like restaurant quality.

The best part of the experience was watching Lilly eat the fillet. She is 5 and is a picky eater. I believe she said, “this is my favorite fish ever.”

Jason and I love this fish and so did Lilly. I’m going to give these fillets a big thumbs up.

Gortons_RealSolutionsSweeps
