Simple Spanish Rice

O-M-G! I’ve been searching for a good Spanish Rice recipe. I have to tell you that yummy Spanish Rice isn’t as easy as it sounds. Getting that authentic flavor is tough unless you know how to make it.  Jason and I have been trying to make our own recipe for years but it just never turned out. We gave up and found a recipe to try. It was so simple and went perfectly with our yummy tacos.

This batch made a lot of rice and we will be incorporating into other meals this week. The smell and flavor are fantastic. The best part is that it’s so cheap to make.

*Warning* – This is not a healthy recipe. 😉

Simple Spanish Rice
  • 2 C Long Grain Rice
  • ½ C of Oil (Not a typo)
  • ½ C Tomato Sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 4 C Water
  • 1 Chicken flavored Bouillon Cube or Powder
  • 2 Dash's of Cumin
  • 2 Dash's of Garlic Pepper (Dollar tree sells this for a buck)
  • (You can adjust the spices to your taste. Example: We love Garlic and Cumin so we added a bit more)
  1. Heat oil in large frying pan or pot on medium heat.
  2. Add rice and cook until golden brown (Like you do with rice a roni).
  3. Add the chicken boullion cube to the 4 cups of water and microwave for about 3 minutes. If you are using powder, you can skip the microwave. Just add the powder to the water.
  4. When rice is brown, add water, tomato sauce, salt, garlic, cumin and garlic pepper (Add the water slowly as it will steam).
  5. Stir and cover the pan/pot. Let simmer for up to 30-40 minutes.
